The Eagles lost 0-2 in Cote d’Ivoire.
The home based Super Eagles have secured a ticket to participate at the Africa Nations Championships billed for South Africa next year despite falling 0-2 to their Ivorian counterparts in a second leg qualifying match played on Saturday in Abidjan.
Ivorian danger man, Kevin Zouguoley, almost denied Nigeria the coveted ticket after scoring twice in the 6th and 24th and thus put the Eagles on the edge in the tension soaked encounter as one more goal from the Elephants would have turned the tables against Coach Stephen Keshi and his team.
Having secured a 4-1 victory in the first leg played earlier, Nigeria thus progressed with a 4-3 aggregate score and are effectively on course to make their debut appearance at the Africa Nations Championships. The Eagles did not qualify for the earlier two editions of the championship.
